Good morning class today, my name is Professor Garcia and today we will be reviewing some of the main points of derivatives and go in deeper into the product and quotient rules! Both this rules might seem difficult at first but they very useful and simple to get once you practice them and understand the concept of them. The purpose of learning both of this rules is to make your lives easier when learning about derivatives! They will make it easier for each and everyone of you to solve derivative problems!

Did you see how easy it was!! You only had to take the derivative of the first, which is 6x^5 (which we got through the power rule we learned last class!!!). Then we just multiplied it by the second part, 4x^2 and added all this to the first part, x^6 times the derivative of the second part which is 8x (gotten with the power rule as well!).

Remember class the more you practice the better you will get at this concepts! I would recommend reviewing the end of the chapter problems and be ready for the quiz next week! Good luck!

  2. Maria, I really like how you explained the product and quotient rules. Now, I have a better understanding of them. I also like how your slides look really professional. Great Job :)

  4. maria,

good lesson and i like how you pointed out areas in which derivatives are useful. also, i like that you gave the definition of a derivative in your opening. it would have been nice to see you do an example with one of the applications you mentioned in the beginning of your lesson, but otherwise, good job. =]
