Math if Fun
Math is Fun is a website that is for students who need some
help with math or students who need more practice in order to improve their
math skills. On this website, there are worksheets students can complete and
activities and quizzes to help students exercise their math skills. Students
who access this site would need the knowledge of knowing how to access tabs on
a website, they need elementary basic knowledge of math and need to be able to
have good reading comprehension when it comes to written explanations. The main age group I would have to say that
Math is Fun is used by would be students of ages 6-17. I would definitely
recommend this resource to any students who are struggling in basic math areas.
For example, mainly algebra and geometry. Math is Fun will help break up
materials down for a student so the information would not be overwhelming.
Reader Rabbit’s Math Computer Game
Reading Rabbit is a computer game that helps students of
many ages learn certain math subjects that they are required to learn in the
grade that they are in. On this computer game, its basically a video game
because you play with animals but these animals help these students exercise
their math skills in a very fun way. Students who access this game would need to
know basic computer skills on knowing how to use a mouse and clicking and
typing, not anything difficult. The main age group for this game depends
because this game is made of different grade levels. For example, there is a
game for children in 1st grade math to 3rd grade math.
But this game is mostly for students from ages 6-9 and for students who are
struggling with 1st grade math, second grade math and 3rd
grade math. I would definitely recommend
this resource to younger children who are already having trouble understanding
math because this game makes math fun and it also helps students learn! Talking
from experience, I used to use this game as well!
Khan Academy
Khan academy is a video tutoring website for students who
need help in many different areas in math. It covers many subjects like
algebra, geometry, calculus and precalculus. The videos are of a person talking
and writing on the board, breaking down steps on a certain math concept for
students to understand in a much simpler way. In order for a student to be able
to access this site, they must be able to know how to access YouTube and be
ready to focus on watching the videos because they can last to almost 20
minutes and even more depending on the depth of the concept being taught. The
main age group that uses this are mainly students in middle school but mostly
high school, even college as well. I would definitely recommend khan academy
because it actually gives students a lecture and focuses on a particular
subject, sort of like extra practice outside of their class, which is very
needed.
Video Math Tutor
Is a website with video tutorials o multiple subjects in
math. For example, subjects on geometry, algebra, etc. This website also has
video brainteasers to help challenge students, calculator tips for students
having trouble with the graphing calculator and study tips as well. The skills
needed in order to access this website would be an understanding of how to move
around a website and be able to click on tabs and a basic knowledge of basic
math like algebra and geometry. You do not need a full understanding of those
subjects because this website is made to go into depth on explaining concepts
on these subjects. This website is usually used b y students who are in middle
school and high school, mostly middle school though. I would definitely recommend this website
because it not only helps students learn
a little better on mat subjects but it also gives students multiple tips on
studying and that is what most students have trouble with.
